I am an idiot

After realizing how stupid I am for ordering a slimline desktop and not realizing that I need low profile PCI/PCIe cards, I have ordered a new firewire soundcard and decided to go with an even more stripped down rig

As of now the plan is to just use five instruments. The new Kontakt means that I am going to try and avoid using any dedicated drum samplers or loop slicers

New computers are here

My new computer is here. Once set up, some recording will restart. As such I am going to go with a smaller rig with the bulk of my music being recorded using Reaktor. Might as well indulge the modular geek inside me. Other instruments that will get use

NI Kontakt
Native Instruments B4
RM IV
Phatmatik Pro

I am sure I am forgetting something, but in general the goal is to keep things smaller than they used to be and spend most of my time with a few instruments. In fact, I am not sure about RM IV and Phat Pro at this time, since I can use Kontakt for much of the same. Easier focusing on a few instruments.

Well not quite, since I can’t blog everyday, but I want this site to stay alive, even though bandwidth constraints have really cramped any music making. But do plan to point to good music, especially from people whose music I really like. And who knows, perhaps, I will even write something new

Blogging some old music - newbie luck

Just to get the ball rolling on this blog like format, I bring to you some of my older music. The Breaking Walk was the first real piece of music I composed, and it is still one of my favorites. It started with a vision of a man in a “Noire”-like scenario. The person was walking the streets of a big city (New York or Paris), occasionally stopping at a large store window. It is the night before the big heist, and he needs to relax.

I don’t even know how I recorded the track, but the rhythm track is all Phatmatik Pro. I think the pads are the original Sonic Synth
